Kumite · Shotokan · 4th Kyu
Born to compete. Built to win.
Armenian Cup Champion. International medalist.
Age six — and just getting started.
Maria Varzhapetyan began her karate journey at the age of four. Two years later, she is a national champion and international medalist — not by exception, but by merit.
Competing in Olympic Shotokan Karate under the Armenian National Karate Federation(ANKF), Maria has advanced from 8th Kyu to 4th Kyu in under 24 months — a rate of progression that distinguishes her from her peers by any standard.
In 2025 & 2026, she claimed the Armenian Cup Championship and followed it with a gold medal at the International Tournament in Tbilisi, Georgia — competing against older, more experienced athletes with composed and decisive technique. In 2026, she claimed two gold medal at the International Tournament in Gori, Georgia and the International Tournament Georgia Open 2026.
Off the mat, Maria is a first-grade student at an English-focused school, recognized for academic discipline and high performance. She trains daily — formal sessions supplemented by independent practice at home.
She is not a prodigy to be observed. She is a competitor to be watched.
"Every belt is just permission to work harder."
